Leissler, Arnold
*1939 Hannover (DE) – †2014 Hannover (DE)In the 1960s, the gallerist and publisher Dieter Brusberg counted Arnold Leissler as one of the
"Young German Printmakers", which included Bernhard Jäger, Reiner Schwarz and Jan Voss, among others.
Leissler had his first solo exhibition of his recent works in Brusberg’s gallery in 1964, after he had reached
- in Brusberg’s words - a vegetative state.

Leissler’s love for the Mediterranean, and Italy in particular, can often be seen in his pictures and prints
(Leissler held a Gropius stipend in Florence and received the Rome Award of the Villa Massimo in 1968).
Hence his female figures often revel in Mediterranean surroundings.
