| Woodcut in colors from the year 1976 for "Erker-Treffen 4", pencil signed
| Anna-Eva Bergman created the original color woodcut in black and gold offered here in 1976, before it was finally published in 1987 on the occasion of the fourth "Erker-Treffen". The print is placed on a double sheet on the right, on the opposite left side a piece of prose by the Icelandic writer and Literature Nobel Prize winner Halldór Laxness was lithographed in his handwriting. The woodcut is signed by the artist in pencil below the image. You will receive from us the complete double sheet with Laxness' text - unfortunately often cut off. For reasons of authenticity, we recommend that you do not cut off the text page, but simply fold it back for framing and hanging. This is because the works are also always shown as complete double sheets in the artist catalogs of works. About the “Erker-Treffen”: From 1972 to 1987, four of the legendary “Erker-Treffen” took place, focusing on encounters between well-known contemporary artists and authors at the host Erker-Galerie in St. Gallen, Switzerland. The artist couple Hans Hartung and Anna-Eva Bergman also took part in two of these meetings with original graphic works: Hartung with two lithographs and Bergman with two woodcuts. The graphics printed each on a double sheet, with a work of prose or poetry lithographed in the author's handwriting printed on the opposite side. These “tandem works” were published as limited edition portfolios and are sought-after collector's items today. | Year: | 1976 (year of creation), 1987 (publication) | Technique: | Original woodcut in colors printed in black and gold | Sizes: | 38 x 56 cm (double sheet with vertical centerfold, as published), 34,8 x 25 cm (image) | Paper: | BFK Rives wove paper | Edition: | 200 signed and numbered copies on BFK Rives wove paper (with watermark); some artist's proofs marked "Epreuve" on the title page - such as the copy offered here. | Published by: | Erker Galerie Verlag Presse, Franz Larese and Jürg Janett, St. Gallen, Switzerland | Printed by: | Erker-Presse, St. Gallen, Switzerland | Documentation / References: | Fondation Hartung Bergman, Catalogue raisonné de l'estampe d'Anna-Eva Bergman, Antibes, no. 204 (Cat no.185) Your print is being delivered with a copy of the title page inscribed "Epreuve" (see last photo) | Condition: | Read more In excellent, almost untouched condition.
