| The Paris Opera House ("L'Opéra de Paris") Marc Chagall expressed his overwhelming zest for colours, light-heartedness and joie de vivre in his splendid graphics like "The Paris Opera House". "L'Opera" is surely one of his most colourful lithographs, depicting a couple dancing over the roofs of Paris, and including an act of a (fictitious?) opera illustrated in may green and pale blue. The fact that he later painted the famous ceiling for the venerable opera house demonstrates his ties to the performing arts, but also to this impressive building as in all his paintings he used intensive, lucent shades of red for it.
