| "Place de la Concorde" and "Eiffel Tower" A male person floating through the air (probably a self-portrait of Chagall) holds a protective hand over a woman holding her child in her arms. She towers over the Place de la Concorde ("Square of Reverence") like a monumental, majestic statue. She bears resemblance to the other female statues of the square that embody eight French cities. She looks solemnly at the city and the face at her feet. Chagall makes Paris bloom in the intensive pastel colours of springtime. In the middle of the square, a small version of the obelisk of Luxor can also be seen in the picture. For his famous Verve cycle "Vision de Paris" with pictures of his adopted home, Chagall created three gorgeous colour lithographs. This one is the most famous of the three. On the back side of the sheet is another original lithograph in black entitled "Eiffel Tower". These are NO mass-produced reprints (giclée prints or photo lithographs from a later "Limited edition") but two original lithographs from 1952, exactly as referenced in Mourlots catalogue raisonné on Chagall's graphic work.
