| | Details:"L 1973-42" (RMM 443) Hans Hartung created this etching with aquatint in two colors as early as 1978, but according to the catalog raisonné, only five proofs were printed at the time, the fifth and last of which was only returned by Hartung 10 years later, in May 1988, with the approval for printing ("bon à tirer"). Shortly afterwards, the edition was printed in the only version available here, using the colors black and royal blue. The paper selected for this work, "Vélin de genre chiffon", is a handmade, extremely thick laid paper into which the copper plate has been pressed several millimeters - a very impressive look and feel. Below Hartung's numbering and signature in pencil are the three dry stamps, as listed in the catalog raisonné, as well as the stamp "Hans Hartung Art Science Culture for Europe" on the reverse (see photos 5-7, details below). This work was also offered at auction houses with the title "Art and Science", in reference to the publisher's edition title "Edizioni d'Arte e Scienza".
