Details:Chairs in a Cafe, 1974 The silver-colored chairs in the famous "Caffè Florian" on the Piazza San Marco (St. Mark's Square) in her native Venice were a central theme in Ida Barbarigo's work during the 1970s. Above all, the "orphaned" groups of chairs abandoned in winter, with their jumble of backs, seats and metal feet, captivated the artist. Through the carborundum technique she used for this graphic, she gave chairs and people something physical and the feeling of bustle (well seen in photos 2 and 3).
