Details:

'Original Lithograph X', untitled - Motif: Dolphin and Parrot

How does the dolphin get on top of the parrot, or: About leaving out display titles and the consequences of it. One thing about Miró’s art is certainly true: As for some of the pieces he left behind without a title, he must have done so with a smile, obviously being conscious of the human impulse of wanting to identify and name everything that is only a bit too vague. Let us allow him this pleasure and let the characters and symbols in this lively and cheerful lithograph unfold before you. The imaginative thoughts and pictures being created in your head are the actual legacy of this great artist.

Description:
Original lithograph in colors (Mourlot no. 1046), 1975
Text on the reverse: "Joan Miró Original lithograph X" (in different languages)

This is N O T a mass-produced reprint (photomechanical reproduction such as photo lithographs or giclée prints) but the original lithograph from 1975, exactly as referenced in the applicable catalogue raisonné.
Sizes: ca. 31,8 x 49,5 cm / 12.5" x 19.5" (sheet)
Edition / Paper: One of the unsigned impressions for the book edition on strong velin paper. In addition, 150 unsigned impressions on Rives wove paper as well as 80 pencil-signed and numbered impressions on Arches wove paper with wide margins were published.
Published by: Different publishers (e.g. Maeght, Paris, for the French edition)
Printed by: Mourlot, Paris
Remarks: This is one of the big pieces in landscape format and thus has the obligatory centrefold and little holes from the thread-stitching, which may bother some people. On the other hand, both the centrefold and the holes from the thread-stitching are important characteristics to be able to tell that this is an original lithograph and not an art print (reprint). Besides, framed in a passe-partout mount, both can be hidden very well.
Documentation / References: Cramer, Patrick. Joan Miró. Lithographe V, Maeght Éditeur, Paris, 1992, Weber Geneve, pages 145 and 157, no. 1046
