Details:"David and Absalom" (The Kings) In no other theme, Marc Chagall used shades of red as lavishly. It is an appropriate means to bring out the dramatic moment between the father and his son. Chagall’s lithograph not only shows the sad face of King David looking onto his son who is kneeling in front of him begging pardon – and soon afterwards will betray his father anew. In the upper left-hand corner of the graphic, it also includes the later scene of the son’s tragic death in the forest Ephraim by his father’s troupes.
