Chagall Bible II - 1960

Chagall Bible II - 1960

The works of his second and last cycle about the Holy Scripture "Drawings for The Bible" (Dessins pour La Bible) reveal much about Chagall’s attitude towards God, his faith and his deeply religious world view - but also about his appreciation of the strong female characters of the Old and New Testament, most of all Ruth, to whom alone he dedicated five illustrations. The total of 24 colour Verve lithographs, which represent the History of Creation, are often admired at exhibitions. These are the same original prints as the ones offered here. With these genuinel lithographs (stone prints) you will also receive the excerpt from the catalogue raisonné (Mourlot) and a proof of identity.
