Details:"Exposition Poteries Fleurs Parfums, Vallauris" on Marais wove paper (Czwiklitzer #1) In 1948, Picasso moved to Vallauris on the Côte d'Azur, which until then had been an insignificant village with a factory for artistic ceramics. For an exhibition of pottery held there in the same year, Picasso designed three posters - his first original lithograph posters. He used variations of his renowned ‘Tête de faune’ (head of a faun) as the motif. The artist's poster offered here is the very first one (Czwiklitzer #1), printed on thin Marais wove paper. A copy of it is also in the Picasso collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York: MoMA Collection - First Picasso Poster for Vallauris Fair
